# Discounts
> Configure reusable retail discounts.
Use discounts for staff-applied reductions and configured discount rules.
## Before Enabling A Discount
Before enabling a discount, confirm:
* Name.
* Amount or percentage.
* Availability.
* Whether staff should be allowed to apply it.
* Whether it overlaps with promo codes.
Every active discount can appear in daily operations and reports, so keep the list clean.
