# Reports Overview

> Understand the Retail reports area and choose the right report.

Retail reports help managers review sales, payments, item performance, staff activity, sessions, discounts, expenses, and voids.

## Report Groups

Retail reports are easier to use when grouped by question:

* Sales reports answer how much was sold, when, and from which source.
* Payment reports answer how money was collected.
* Catalog performance reports answer which products and modifiers are selling.
* Operations reports answer how staff, sessions, and voids are performing.
* Adjustment reports answer what was discounted or expensed.

## Date Filters

Most reports include a date or date range. Always confirm the selected period before sharing numbers.

## Exporting

Use export buttons when a manager, accountant, or owner needs the report outside Plato.

For closing checks, compare report totals with transactions and device sessions before treating numbers as final.
