# Promo Codes
> Create, publish, and test retail promotional codes.
Promo codes apply discounts during checkout when the code rules match the order.
## Before Sharing A Code
Before sharing a code, confirm:
* Code spelling.
* Discount value.
* Start and end dates.
* Usage limits.
* Whether the code is published.
* Whether the code works on a small test order.
The Retail sidebar includes `Promotions`, but that entry is currently disabled. Use `Promo Codes` for active discount-code work.
