# Set Up POS General Details

> Configure the main details for a POS device.

Choose `POS` when the device will be used by cashiers or wait staff.

## Confirm The Device Type

Make sure the device type is POS.

This tells Plato the device should use POS-specific settings.

## Keep The Name Clear

Use a name that describes where the POS is used.

For example, `Main Cashier POS` is easier to understand than `Device 1`.

## Save Before Configuring Service Options

Save the general details, then continue to the POS Config tab for service behavior.
