# Publish Or Mark Sold Out

> Decide whether a product is visible, hidden, or temporarily unavailable.

Use product availability controls to avoid confusing customers and staff.

## Published

Turn `Published` on when the product is ready to appear in menus and order flows.

Turn it off when the product is still being prepared, no longer sold, or should not appear to customers.

## Sold Out

Use `Sold Out` when the product should stay visible but cannot be ordered right now.

This is useful for temporary shortages. Customers can still see the item, but they understand it is unavailable.

## A Simple Rule

* Not ready to show: unpublish it.
* Ready to show but unavailable today: mark it sold out.
* Ready to sell: publish it and keep sold out off.
