# Wi-Fi Printers

> Configure Wi-Fi receipt printers for Plato.

Use Wi-Fi printers when Ethernet cabling is not possible. Wi-Fi can work well, but the printer must stay on a strong, stable network.

Use Wi-Fi for:

1. Locations where Ethernet cables cannot be run.
2. Temporary stations.
3. Low-movement printers with strong signal.

Avoid Wi-Fi for printers that are far from the router, behind thick walls, or critical during peak service if Ethernet is available.

## Supported Starter Models

Wi-Fi setup is supported for these starter printer families when the model supports Wi-Fi network printing and ESC/POS or raw TCP printing:

| Brand | Page |
| ----- | ---------------------------------------- |
| ICE | [ICE Printers](/printers/models/ice) |
| Oscar | [Oscar Printers](/printers/models/oscar) |
| Sunmi | [Sunmi Printers](/printers/models/sunmi) |
| Landi | [Landi Printers](/printers/models/landi) |
| Epson | [Epson Printers](/printers/models/epson) |

## Network Requirements

1. The printer must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the POS device.
2. The Wi-Fi signal must be strong where the printer is placed.
3. The printer must have a reachable IP address.
4. The printer port must be known. Many receipt printers use `9100`.
5. The Wi-Fi name and password should not change without updating the printer.
6. The printer IP should be reserved on the router when possible.

## Plato Setup

In Plato, create a printer and set `Connection Config` to `Network`.

Enter the printer IP address and port, then connect the printer to the POS device from `Connected Devices`.

For the full flow, see [Configure And Connect A Printer](/printers/configure-and-connect).

## Quick Wi-Fi Checks

If the printer does not print:

1. Confirm the printer is still connected to Wi-Fi.
2. Confirm the POS device is on the same Wi-Fi network.
3. Move the printer closer to the router if printing works sometimes and fails sometimes.
4. Restart the printer after Wi-Fi or router changes.
5. Confirm the IP address in Plato matches the printer self-test page.
