# Ethernet And Wi-Fi Troubleshooting

> Check printer network cables, Wi-Fi, IP address, and local network reachability.

Use this when the printer is powered on but Plato cannot reach it, printing works sometimes, or the IP address changed.

## Ethernet Checks

1. Confirm the Ethernet cable is firmly connected to the printer.
2. Confirm the other end is connected to the router or switch.
3. Check the LAN lights on the printer, router, or switch.
4. Try another Ethernet cable if available.
5. Confirm the POS device and printer are on the same local network.
6. Print a status page and confirm the IP address in Plato matches the printer.

## Wi-Fi Checks

1. Confirm the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the POS device.
2. Confirm the Wi-Fi signal is strong where the printer is placed.
3. Confirm the Wi-Fi name and password were not changed.
4. Restart the printer after router or Wi-Fi changes.
5. Move the printer closer to the router if it prints sometimes and fails sometimes.
6. Print a status page and confirm the IP address in Plato matches the printer.

## IP Address Changed

If the printer IP changed:

1. Print the printer status page.
2. Update the IP address in Plato.
3. Reserve the printer IP address on the router if possible.
4. Test a receipt and a kitchen ticket.

## Direct PC Recovery

If the printer is not visible on the network:

1. Connect the printer directly to a PC by Ethernet.
2. Put the PC Ethernet adapter on the same subnet as the printer.
3. Use browser config or the vendor utility to set the correct network settings.
4. Move the printer back to the router or switch.
5. Print a new status page.
