# Blank Or Bad Printing

> Fix blank paper, weak print, strange symbols, and unclear receipt output.

Use this when the printer feeds paper but the output is wrong.

## Blank Paper

1. Confirm the paper is thermal receipt paper.
2. Flip the paper roll and print again.
3. Try a new paper roll.
4. Print a self-test page.
5. If self-test is also blank, the issue is paper, paper direction, or printer hardware.

## Weak Or Unclear Print

1. Try a new paper roll.
2. Confirm the paper is not old or heat-damaged.
3. Confirm the printer cover is fully closed.
4. Check whether the printer head area needs cleaning.
5. Print a self-test page and compare output.

Do not clean the print head with random chemicals. Use the manufacturer cleaning method.

## Strange Symbols

1. Turn the printer off for 10 seconds.
2. Turn it back on.
3. Print a self-test page.
4. Confirm Plato is using the correct printer connection type.
5. Confirm the printer is not receiving jobs from another system at the same time.
6. Do not change code page, language, or encoding settings unless support asks.

Take a photo of the bad print output before changing settings.
