# Oscar Network 80mm

> Configure an Oscar Ethernet or Wi-Fi thermal printer for Plato.

Use this page for Oscar 80mm thermal printers that expose an IP address over Ethernet/LAN or Wi-Fi.

## Configure From A PC

1. Connect the printer to power and load paper.
2. Connect Ethernet from the printer to the router, switch, or directly to the PC.
3. Print a self-test page and note the current IP address.
4. If the printer is on the store network, open a browser to `http://PRINTER_IP` if web config is available.
5. If the printer is not reachable, connect directly to the PC and set the PC Ethernet adapter to the same subnet as the printer IP.
6. Use the printer web config or vendor utility to set IP mode, IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and Wi-Fi details.
7. Save and restart the printer.
8. Print a new self-test page and confirm the final IP address.

## Print Self-Test

Most Oscar thermal printers use a standard Feed-button self-test:

1. Turn the printer off.
2. Hold `Feed`.
3. Turn the printer on while holding `Feed`.
4. Release `Feed` when printing starts.

If the printer prints a menu with different button instructions, follow the printed menu.

## Reset Network Settings

Reset behavior varies by Oscar model.

Common recovery path:

1. Print the self-test page first and keep it.
2. Use the printer web config or vendor utility to restore network settings when available.
3. If the hardware supports a Feed-button reset menu, enter it from the printed self-test menu and choose the network reset option.
4. Restart the printer.
5. Reconfigure the network from PC.
6. Update Plato with the new IP address.

Do not factory reset during service unless the printer is already unusable or support asks for it.

## Configure In Plato

1. Add a `Printer` device.
2. Set `Connection Config` to `Network`.
3. Enter the printed IP address.
4. Enter the printed port, usually `9100`.
5. Configure `Template`.
6. Connect the printer to the correct POS.
