# Set Up The Main POS Station

> Configure the primary POS station for restaurant service.

Main POS is the primary cashier or service station.

Open the POS device and go to `Config`.

## Recommended Main POS Settings

For a normal cashier station, review these settings first:

1. `Is Main`.
2. `Session Control Enabled`.
3. `Display Menu When Idle`.
4. `Tables`.
5. `Course Management`.
6. `Enable Draft Orders`.
7. `Online Orders`.
8. `Kitchen Calls`.
9. `Send KDS Tickets`.

Only enable features the team will actually use during service.

## Menu Layout

Choose the menu layout mode that fits the device.

`Default` is easier for normal service. `Compact` can help smaller screens. `Tabs` can help when the menu has many sections.

## Payment Actions

Leave payment actions enabled on a Main POS when the station handles cashier work.

Disable payment actions only for devices that should create or review orders without taking payment.
